As you may already be aware of through the Community Reporting Pack release, we integrate SQL Reporting Services as part of our standard offering for MIIS/ILM projects. This week I spent a few days with one of our customers adding some functionality and helping another co-worker troubleshoot why certain reports had stopped rendering after a recent upgrade to SQL 2005 SP2 (as part of an MIIS to ILM 2007 upgrade path). The odd thing was that these reports rendered fine in the SRS Reports web page and only affected reports that were exported via schedule to a file share if they were set to export to Excel. The same reports would export to Excel format correctly manually, just not via schedule.
We were able to find a whole host of fixes for SRS related bugs in several of the previous cumulative update packages and ultimately decided to apply the latest we could get our hands on - package 6. You still have to request this package, but applying it fixed the report rendering issues with Excel as it pertained to scheduled exports to a file share.
This update package will take SQL Server binaries to build 3228 (9.0.3228.0).
