DON'T PANIC!
Like a line straight out of Hitchhiker's Guide, HP assures it's existing Identity Center customers that it won't abandon them; however HP is unwilling to take on new customers bowing to fierce competition in the IDA market space.
Is this the end of the Select Access, Trulogica, and Trustgenix acquisition waves? What happens to that valuable IP and talent? There are certainly some very compelling Federation bits in there that I hope are not confined to the bit-bucket as this is still an emerging technology. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the other large vendors swoops in to acquire this base and its customers, but time will tell. Of course, something reminiscent of the Cisco/IBM IP acquisition could always happen again where, in my view Cisco was really only interested in certain patents and quietly retired the IBM line of networking products to obscurity (thankfully).
