Chaos Chat: A First Look At Infocard

Keith Brown has an excellent post this morning in the MSDN Flash newsletter regarding InfoCard. Ever since Pamela Dingle's presentation at DEC this year I've been keeping an eye on this technology.

InfoCard distinguishes itself from Microsoft Passport in many ways, but among the most important are:
  • "user centric" identity management - you choose which attributes of your identity are sent to the identity provider and always have the ability to "opt out"
  • Identity information is not stored on your PC or in a central repository, it is stored and managed by the identity provider

For more in depth information on InfoCards, see Kim Cameron's Identity Blog.
